The first medal of 2017 was awarded to our Classic Reserve NV at the Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA) in March. This was the first time that the Classic Reserve had been entered for any competitions and so to claim a high silver (88/100) is a tremendous achievement.

The IEWA is a new competition that aims to celebrate English wine and raise the profile of the truly excellent styles that are being produced on this green isle.  With MWs like Liam Stevenson and John Salvi judging alongside Langham’s Daniel Ham, James Cumming of Fennycastle, Tom Gilbey and Charlie Stein, the panel has an exciting mix of expertise on board.

Emma Rice, head winemaker at Hattingley Valley, said “It is great that the IEWA is promoting English wines. We are very excited that our non-vintage Classic Reserve did so well ahead of its general release later this year, particularly as only one other sparkling wine was awarded a gold medal.”
